Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at admin@foodandlife.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.

An initial consultation costs $200 and subsequent consultations are $170. This fee is payable on the day of consultation and applies to anyone who attends the clinic as a private client, or is on a team care arrangement with their GP. If you have private health, your rebate is at the discretion of your private health insurer. Sessions under a Team Care Arrangement with your GP attract a rebate of $60.35 which is applied once payment of the consult has been received.

If you are accessing consultations at Food & Life through your NDIS plan, your plan will be charged at the scheduled rate of $188.90.

Consultations run for 50 minutes with an additional 10 minutes for administration at the end. Please allow up one hour for the consultation in it's entirety.

If you need to reschedule, just send an email, give us a call, or message us directly—we’re happy to help. We kindly ask for as much notice as possible, as it can be tricky to fill appointments at short notice.

You’ll receive both an email and text reminder three days before your scheduled appointment. Please note that Food & Life has a cancellation policy: a cancellation or rescheduling fee may apply if changes are made within 48 hours of your appointment time.

We do our best to offer an alternative appointment within 7 days to help you avoid this fee. As a small business, your consideration means a lot to us.

Not at all. I offer virtual consultations via Zoom, so you can access support from anywhere in Australia—no matter where you live.

In Australia, the term “nutritionist” isn’t regulated, which means anyone can use it regardless of qualifications. In contrast, a dietitian has completed accredited university training in nutrition and dietetics and is qualified to provide evidence-based advice, including support for health conditions. An Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) is a dietitian who has met strict standards set by Dietitians Australia, including ongoing professional development. Only APDs can offer Medicare-rebated services and are recognised as the gold standard in nutrition care.Add an answer to this item.

At Food & Life, we work with individuals aged 10 years and over. For children and adolescents (10–18 years), a parent or caregiver is required to attend the consultation. For younger clients (typically 10–14 years), the initial session is usually held with the parent or caregiver only, and from there, we work together to decide on the most supportive and appropriate approach moving forward.

The number of sessions varies for each person. Someone managing a chronic health condition without additional complications may only need two or three sessions. In contrast, those navigating a more complex relationship with food may benefit from longer-term support. We always discuss this during the initial consultation and continue to review your needs over time as your confidence and capacity grow.
